Have a Gift Exchange Party

Have a Gift Exchange Party

Unless you and your family have the type of open communication that makes the rest of the world jealous, you probably wind up with a gift or two at Christmas that you just won’t ever use or like.  It’s okay, it happens to all of us.  Instead of letting that item sit in the corner of a closet collecting dust, host a gift exchange party with your friends and let those unwanted items find new life with someone who could actually use or enjoy them.

While some may frown on gift exchanges, it seems utterly wasteful to let an item rot when someone else might enjoy it as much as your gift giver hoped you would.  Chances are, someone else at your gift exchange party has something you could really enjoy, so what’s the harm in finding good homes for unwanted gifts?

The trick to holding a gift exchange party is to make sure no one who has given you a gift will be there.  You don’t want to hurt their feelings, especially not in a public setting like a party.  Instead, invite friends and coworkers, or better yet, have the party at your work.  Instead of giving gifts before Christmas at a work party, have a gift exchange party afterward, and no one will be out cash for coworker gifts.

Gift exchange parties are a great way to give everyone an opportunity to exchange a gift they don’t want or need for something they can enjoy and use.  There is no harm in making sure your gift finds a loving home.
